A Fast, Unstructured Panel Solver

چکیده
A parallel high-order Boundary Element Method accelerated by the Fast Multipole Method is presented in this report. The case of potential flow about arbitrary geometries will be investigated using this method. The goal of this application is to provide a ”pushbutton” tool for the design of aircraft, where medium-fidelity solutions can be obtained in seconds and not hours or days required by Navier-Stokes solvers.

A Fast and Memory Efficient Sparse Solver with Applications to Finite-Element Matrices
In this article we introduce a fast iterative solver for sparse matrices arising from the finite element discretization of elliptic PDEs. The solver uses a fast direct multi-frontal solver as a preconditioner to a simple fixed point iterative scheme. This approach combines the advantages of direct and iterative schemes to arrive at a fast, robust and accurate solver. We will show that this solv...
متن کاملModeling Khowr-e Musa Multi-Branch Estuary Currents due to the Persian Gulf Tides Using NASIR Depth Average Flow Solver
The depth average module of NASIR finite volume solver was applied to study the tide induced currents in Khowr-e-Musa estuary. The model computes water level variation and velocity components in horizontal plane solving depth average continuity and momentum equations considering the hydrostatic pressure distribution. The software takes into account the bed and wall geometric complexities and re...
متن کاملFast-marching eikonal solver in the tetragonal coordinates
Accurate and efficient traveltime calculation is an important topic in seismic imaging. We present a fast-marching eikonal solver in the tetragonal coordinates (3-D) and trigonal coordinates (2-D), tetragonal (trigonal) fast-marching eikonal solver (TFMES), which can significantly reduce the first-order approximation error without greatly increasing the computational complexity. In the trigonal...
متن کاملA New Implicit Dissipation Term for Solving 3D Euler Equations on Unstructured Grids by GMRES+LU-SGS Scheme
Due to improvements in computational resources, interest has recently increased in using implicit scheme for solving flow equations on 3D unstructured grids. However, most of the implicit schemes produce greater numerical diffusion error than their corresponding explicit schemes. This stems from the fact that in linearizing implicit fluxes, it is conventional to replace the Jacobian matrix in t...
متن کاملFastStokes: A Fast 3-D Fluid Simulation Program for Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems
We have developed boundary integral equation formulas and a corresponding fast 3-D Stokes flow simulation program named FastStokes to accurately simulate viscous drag forces on geometrically complicated MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) devices. Unlike the 3-D finite element or finite difference solvers which often take days to run to completion or fail when geometry gets complicated, the F...
